Boring additional technical bearing trivia, included because we get frequent questions about NACHI brand bearings:
Rainbow does not make its motor bearings.
"NACHI", (the bearing brand name found in most Rainbows), is a Japanese company.
NACHI brand bearings are currently manufactured in China.
Nothing wrong with that, (quality-wise), as it's the grade/rating/specs of the bearing that are important, and not the brand. Our bearings come from American and/or Canadian bearing companies, and they too are currently made in China or South Korea.
We sell and use bearings that are manufactured to the same grade/rating performance specifications as the equivalent NACHI bearing found in many Rainbows. They perform equally as well.
Proper bearing size, grade, RPM/temperature, weight/load, and other operating specifications for a bearing are important rating considerations in proper bearing rating selection. . . not the brand.
"R-5238" quality is better for replacing an R-1981 bearing because the R-5238 specification double-sealed bearings are more
effective in sealing out moisture and contaminants; ... for that reason, we stopped selling or using the R-1981 specification over 10 years ago, and we use these R-5238 quality bearings exclusively for any of the 3 motor bearing locations within D4C and SE models. ... they're only a few cents more for the extra (double nitrile seals) protection (vs an R-1981), and, one no longer has to be concerned about which way a bearing's nitrile shield should face during installation, because both sides of these double-sealed bearings are the same.
